Asgard’s Wrath 2, Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR and Horizon Call of the Mountain have all been nominated for a D.I.C.E. Award.

FACTS

The D.I.C.E. Awards have two categories for VR games and the following titles have been nominated:

Immersive Reality Technical Achievement:

  • Asgard’s Wrath 2
  • Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR
  • Horizon Call of the Mountain
  • Vertigo 2
  • We Are One

Immersive Reality Game of the Year:

  • Asgard’s Wrath 2
  • Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR
  • Horizon Call of the Mountain
  • Vampire: The Masquerade – Justice
  • Vertigo 2

The D.I.C.E. Awards have been presented since 1998 and are sometimes considered the “Oscars of the video game industry”. D.I.C.E. stands for Design Innovate Communicate Entertain.

The awards ceremony is organized and carried out by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS). It puts together a panel of over 100 representatives from the video games industry who are responsible for the nominations. The AIAS, which consists of more than 20,000 members, votes on the award winners.

This will be the 27th edition of the awards, and as always, the games from the previous year will be honored. The event will take place on February 15th. I will update this article as soon as the winners are announced.

CONTEXT

Three of the nominated VR games are exclusive titles: Asgard’s Wrath 2 and Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR are only available for Meta Quest and Horizon Call of the Mountain is only available for Playstation VR 2.

Vertigo 2 is available for SteamVR and Playstation VR 2, We Are One for Meta Quest and SteamVR and Vampire: The Masquerade – Justice for Meta Quest, Playstation VR 2 and soon also for SteamVR.

It’s nice to see that the AIAS also recognizes VR games from smaller studios. We Are One was developed by a small team from Salzburg, Austria, and Vertigo 2 was creator by the solo developer Zach Tsiakalis-Brown. I have linked to our reviews.
