Amazon launches LLM version of Alexa

Amazon has unveiled a revamped version of its Alexa AI voice assistant, featuring a large language model (LLM) for more natural and longer conversations with users. The new version will be available in the US as a free preview for all Echo devices. Improvements include better voice output, stronger personality, and recognition of user preferences. Additionally, Amazon is working on making Alexa understand laughter and confirmation responses like “Uh hu.” Apple is also said to be working on an LLM version of Siri.
